Jason’s background has positioned him ideally to plan and litigate complex estate matters. That background includes years of experience as a consultant at a Big Four accounting firm and, after graduating from Yale Law School, developing his trusts and estates practice at nationally recognized law firms. The most relevant aspect of his biography to his work at Smith Legacy Law, however, remains his childhood in Oklahoma and Texas. Born to a line of farmers and ministers, Jason developed early on the work ethic, thoughtfulness, and concern for others that his clients value. These characteristics are integral to Jason’s status as a “lawyer for life” to those with substantial wealth to plan, protect, and preserve.
At Smith Legacy Law, Jason advises on the full array of estate, wealth, and tax planning issues for high-net-worth individuals and family offices, in addition to estate administration and litigation. All of his work begins with a deep understanding of his clients’ unique circumstances and is aimed at achieving them in the most efficient manner.
Jason developed his practice at three law firms with prominent trusts and estates practices, including an Am Law 100 firm (one of the 100 largest law firms in the country) and a New York law firm at which he built a highly successful trusts and estates litigation practice group.
Jason earned his B.S., magna cum laude, from the NYU Stern School of Business, and consulted at PriceWaterhouseCoopers before founding an internet marketing company, Ascension Communications. After three successful years running Ascension, Jason enrolled at Yale Law School.
After earning his J.D. from Yale, Jason clerked for Chief Judge Robert N. Chatigny of the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut.
Jason resides in Greenwich, Connecticut, with his husband Dominick and their two children.
